As with any organizational transformation, your Agile transformation will surely have Change Anchors, people who claim to be on board but don’t really believe in the change, or talk negatively behind the scenes. The first challenge is identifying who these people are, and what their motives are for resisting the change. Whether they hate losing their cube walls, or already know that Agile could never work in their organization. Then the real challenge is getting these Change Anchors on board, or at least to give Agile transformation a chance to work.

A year ago, Worthington Industries decided to move in the direction of Agile development. They started by throwing out the cube walls and buying card tables from Sam’s club. And then the real change began. How software development, maintenance and projects were planned, managed, executed, and communicated all changed. Steve Jones, the Scrum Master of the Transformation will discuss how these changes have impacted the business of IT and where they go from here. (Hint: how they will go from Scrum Buts to Scrum.)
